The Boy and The Groundnuts In A Pitcher

Once there lived a poor boy with his mother in a slum. One day his mother brought some groundnuts from the master’s house. She kept it in a pitcher for her son.

When his son came back from the school at evening he cried for food. The mother told him that she kept some groundnuts in the pitcher for him. The boy put his hand into that pitcher to get some nuts. But he took such big amount of nuts  with his hand. So that he could not draw his hand out again. There he stood, unwilling to leave a single groundnuts and yet unable to get them all out at once. He felt angry and disappointed because he was unable to get his hand out. He began to cry.

His mother watching him from a distance. She told to her son, “My dear son be satisfied with half the nuts you have taken and you will easily get your hand out. Then perhaps you may have some more nuts other time.” He did it as said by his mother and happily get his hand out with some nuts.

Moral: Do not attempt too much at once. Be happy with little and try again.
