Moral Story of Handicapped King and The Painter

Once upon a time there lived a King in his kingdom. He was brave and intelligent. He fought many battles. Every time he was won the battles and saved his kingdom. Once there was a big battle and he was about win the battle but his enemy attacked from his back and at last king killed him. But he lost his one eye and one leg in the battle.

Many days past. One day he asked all the painters in his kingdom to draw a beautiful portrait of him. But none of them could. How could they paint him beautifully with the defects in one eye and one leg.

Eventually one of them agreed and drew a classic picture of the King. It was a fantastic picture and surprised everyone.

He painted the King aiming for a hunt. Targeting with his one eye closed and one leg bent on the horse.

Moral: Don't see other's weakness and always try to highlight their strength.

King Bruce and The Spider

Once upon a time there lived an able king in Scotland. His name was Robert Bruce. He fought many battles but he was nobody defeated him in the battle. Once he was defeated by an cruel king. He ran away from the battle field. He hid himself in a cave situated in a big forest.

There was a spider in that cave. It was trying to reach the roof of the cave. It failed again and again. After every fall, the spider tried again. It did not lose heart. The spider reached its cobweb in the several attempt.

The spider taught King Bruce a great lesson. It filled him with new hope and courage. He came out of the cave and gathered his forces. This time he fought bravely. He was successful in making his country free.

Moral: Try, try again till you succeed.

The Shepherd Boy and The Wolf : Short Stories: Moral Stories for kids

One day he thought to play a joke with his neighbors. He started crying at the top of his voice Wolf! Wolf! I am in danger and wolf killed my sheep. Please help.

On hearing his cries all the villagers came running with sticks to help him. On reaching the jungle they found there was no wolf. The shepherd laughed at them. They understood that the boy had be fooled them. They returned to their villages. Promises that they will not help him again.

Another day truly a wolf came there and attacked his sheep. He started shouting at the top of his voice Wolf! Wolf! He killed my sheep. Please help. I am saying truth. But the villagers thought that he was trying to be fool them once again.

They did not come to his help. The wolf killed the sheep and took some with him. The foolish boy was missed his sheep because he was a liar.

Moral: Think before you act.

The Hare and His Ears

Once upon a time there was a Lion had been badly hurt by the horns of a Goat, while he was eating. He was very angry to think that any animal that he chose for a meal, should be so brazen as to wear such dangerous things as horns to scratch him while he ate. So he commanded that all animals with horns should leave his kingdom as soon as possible. he don't want to see them at all. 

The command struck terror among all the animals. All those who were so unfortunate as to have horns, started to move out of that jungle. Even the Hare, who has no horns and so had nothing to fear. He passed a very restless night, thinking about the fearful Lion.

He came out of the warren in the early morning sunshine, and there saw the shadow cast by his long and pointed ears. He was frightened to see this. Good bye my dear friend cricket. I am going off. The cricket said that why are you leaving? You don't have horns you should stay here. He certainly point out that my ears are horns, no matter what I am. In the mean time lion came with a roar and killed the hare.

Moral: Do not give your enemies the slightest reason to attack your reputation. Your enemies will seize any excuse to attack you.

Two Friends and the Bear story

Two Friends and the Bear
Once upon a time there lived two best friends in a village. Their names were Motu and Chhotu. One day both of them set out to attend their friends birthday party.

They promised to help each other in trouble. On the way there was a big forest.  As they were passing through the forest, they saw a black bear. The bear was coming towards them. They were much frightened to see such a dangerous animal.

Chhotu at once climbed up a nearby tree to save his life. He was unaware of his friend's safety. Motu did not know how to climb up a tree. Because he was fat. But he was intelligent. He had heard that bears do not touch the dead peoples. So he lay on the ground, held his breath and appeared to be dead. The bear came near him and sniffed the whole body of Motu. The bear thought its dead and he went away.

When the bear had gone quite far Motu stand with his own feet. Chhotu also came down from the tree. He asked Motu to tell him what the bear had whispered in his ear. Motu said that the bear had advised him to beware of false friends like him. Chhotu realized his mistakes.

Moral: Beware of false friends.

Fox and The Hare Short Story

Once upon a time there lived a hare in a jungle. One fine morning it was search of foods. He came across a fox. He was fear to see the fox. The hare was appreciating  at fox in admiration. 
Hare met the fox on the way.

The fox asked, what happened with you? Why are you appreciate me? The hare said in an anxious voice, “I was wondering about you". 

The fox asked, why is it so?  The hare replied "Are you really as cunning as other say about you? Because I am thinking that leopard is very cunning than you." 

The fox looked at the hare with a thoughtful look and replied after some moments, "I think you are right. Better do one thing. You can come tonight and join with our meeting. We shall discuss the matter."

The hare went to the fox's den at night. He saw there was a dining table were laid plates and bowls. But there was no other animals for meeting. The hare thought himself, "What a fool I am! The fox has planned to eat me and there was no meeting at all. He ran away with his life before fox came to the spot.

Moral : Cunning words are undependable or don't believe the cunning person.

Camel and The Jackal Moral Story

Once upon a time there lived a camel and a jackal together in a forest. There was a river nearby the forest. On the other side of the river there were sugarcane fields. One day morning the jackal came to the camel and asked to cross the river and enjoy the sugarcane. The camel agree with the jackal. But the jackal did not know how to swim, so he requested the camel to carry him on his back.

The camel agreed to the jackal's request. They set out for the river and soon reached its bank. The camel carried the jackal on his back and crossed the river. On reaching the other side, they began to eat the sugarcane. The jackal was satisfied with his food because he was very small but the camel was yet hungry. The jackal began to howl loudly after food. The camel asked him not to do so but the jackal said that it was his habit to howl after meals.

His howling listened by the farmers. They all reached the spot with long sticks. The jackal disappeared in the sugarcane field but the camel was badly beaten. Now they were to go across the river. The jackal requested the camel to take him across the river.

The camel agreed to do so since he wanted to retaliate upon him. When the camel reached the middle of water, he began to roll himself in the water. The jackal told him not to do so. But the camel said that it was his habit to do so after meals.

The jackal felt sorry for his mistakes. He was rightly punished for his mischievousness.

Moral: Every action has an opposite reaction.

Woodcutter and The Water God

Once upon a time there was a humble wood cutter named Kalidas living in a small village. The villagers were depending upon the forest for their livelihood. Kalidas was going regularly to collect firewood with the villagers. He was selling the wood in the near-by market. With that little earning he was managing his family.

Like the usual routine, one day he had gone to the forest to collect the firewood. He was cutting a tree near the river and misfortune struck him on that day. His axe slipped away from his hand and was lost in the river. He was a poor wood cutter and he had only one axe. On that day he had lost his only axe in the river. Thinking about the future he started weeping. His crying was intense  and disturbed the water god. The water god came in front of Kalidas and asked the reason for his crying. Kalidas explained everything in detail to the water god.  After listening to everything the water god plunged into the river. After a while he came out from the water with a golden axe. 

He showed the golden axe to Kalidas and asked “Is it yours?” Kalidas examined the golden axe and said “No my lord, it’s not mine.” Keeping the axe aside, the water god plunged into the river a second time. This time he came with a silver axe. He showed the silver axe to Kalidas and asked again “Is it yours?” 

Kalidas examined the axe and said “It is not mine. I am a poor wood cutter. How can I own a golden or silver axe! I have only an iron axe.” Listening to this the water god plunged once again inside the river. This time he came back with the iron axe of Kalidas. When Kalidas saw his axe he became very happy. He showed his gratefulness and respect to the river god. Seeing the honesty of Kalidas the water god gave the golden and silver axe as a gift to him with his original iron axe.

Moral: Always be honest.  Honesty is always rewarded.

Jackal and War Drum Story

Jackal and War Drum Story
Once upon a time, there was a dense forest lived a jackal. One day, he was very hungry and was in search of food. While searching food, he came across a battle field. There he saw a big drum lying under a tree. When the wind blew, there comes some sound with hitting the tree trunk with drum. He was about to go with fear but he  thought he must be careful in finding out the source of this sound. 


The jackal beats with his front paws. The drum made a sound. Now the jackal thought that there might be some other small animal inside the drum and that would make a very tasty meal for him. Because he was very hungry. He tried a lot with his paws and teeth to tear the drum but in vain.

At that time a leopard passing by while he was searching his foods. He was attracted towards the sound of the drum, came near it. He saw the jackal and said I will kill you. The jackal said to the leopard, "My dear, please leave me and I will give you a good meal instead of me. There is a pig hiding inside the drum. If you tear this drum and kill the pig you will have a tasty meal. Saying this jackal vanished from the spot.

The leopard hit top of the drum with his sharp paws. The drum burst with a sound, but there was no animal inside. The drum was empty. Seeing the empty drum, the leopard became very angry and said to the jackal, "You have wasted my time. There is no food inside the drum. So I will kill and eat you." He saw there was no jackal. He continued his search for food, and near the drum he found sufficient food.

The Stag and His Reflection Story

Once there lived a stag in a dense forest. There was a stream inside the forest. All the animals were used this water. There lived a stag with his family. He was very thirsty. He went to the stream to drink water. The stream water was calm and clear. He was about to bent down to drink some water.

The stag saw his reflection in the stream water.
He saw his reflection in this clear water. When he saw his horns, he felt proud of them. He said to himself, "How beautiful and lovely my horns. While he looked to his legs, he felt sad and disappointed and cursed God for this injustice. He thought he was the king of this forest. He will not fear to anyone."

He was yet to quench his thirst, when he saw a hunter with his hounds. Seeing his life in danger, the stag ran as fast as he could. He was soon out of sight. He reached a thick forest but unluckily his horns got stuck in a thick bush. He tried his best to release his horns, but all in vain. In the meantime, the hounds came for hunting and caught him. 

The stag now realized that the legs, he had despised a little while ago, helped him in saving his life but the beautiful horns became the cause of his death.

Moral: All glittering ornaments are not gold.

The Greedy Lion And The Hare

Lion let the hare freeOnce upon a time there lived a furious lion in a dense forest. It was a hot summer day and the lion was feeling very hungry. He thought he should take water from the nearby river and then it will search for food. He came out of his den and went to the river for drinking the water. 

He came back and searched food here and there. On his way he found a small hare. He catch the hare without any hesitation. “This hare can’t fill my stomach” thought the lion. The lion was about to kill the hare, a deer ran that way. The lion became greedy. He thought, instead of eating this small hare, let me eat the big animal. I will eat now and save some for night. 

He let the hare free and went behind the deer. But the deer had vanished into the forest. The lion now felt sorry for setting the hare free.

Moral of the story: Greedy is always crush.
